Attributing Images

Recently Te Ngahere has been doing a Cybersmart Challenge called attributing images.  What we are supposed to do is Google an image that relates to the ngahere then press tools after you've pressed it then go to usage rights creative commons licenses then choose the image you are going to use go to the website. After that it should show the image who the author is what its called and its licence type. After all of that link the licence type to the doc and also the name of the image it should look like this.

From this I have learnt how to find the licence type off images of google.  I will use this in the future for the rest of the attributing images and other activities. What I think i did well was doing it without asking for help and just finding the image.

Do you know how to find the license type in an image?

Science Fair

Te Ngahere has recently been doing a science fair. My project was about tape and which one was the strongest out of masking tape, insulation tape, sellotape and duct tape. out of all them insulation tape was the strongest. I learned about what a hypothesis is and what variables are and also what tape is strongest. What I found difficult was when the teacher was checking my slides and she would always make it orange and make me change something when I thought it was already done. Next time if I made a science fair project I would follow the science fair infographic steps and the booklet to be more successful. I got stuck in the pit a few times doing this so I used hoe of Kaha and got out of the pit.

Shrinking Paper

First day of term 3 In the morning Te Ngahere did a taskmaster. My team was Tane, Mark and Cahlay. This taskmaster was a newspaper one, what happened was there were teams of 4 and we would start of on 2 sheets of newspaper the 4 people would have to stand on the sheets of newspaper for 5 seconds and after you do that you fold the newspaper. We did it because it was the first day back so we didn't have to get straight into other work. What I think we did well was the strategies we were thinking of. What I think I could improve on more teamwork.

Marble Challenge

Last week Te Ngahere did a marble challenge. We were making ramps to roll marbles down and hoping the marble would stop at 1.10m. We had a week to make our ramps. We made a drawing of what we wanted our marble ramps to look like then we would show the teacher. If it was not good enough or didn't have good instructions (because another team would be testing our ramps out on the day) we would make modifications to make it better. We did it to use the scientific method. Sadly I wasn't there on the day. My group was Shay and Brooklyn.

The Fun Science Show

On Monday the whole of Te Ngahere went to a science Roadshow at Bay Of Islands College, we took the bus there and got dropped of at the front gates of bay college and went to the hall. When we got to the hall we all sat on the ground next to some kids from Bay College. Then they started the show about gases and chemical reactions. After the show we all got to look around at the projects some of the kids made. My favorite one was one that was like a telescope on a submarine, it was a telescope that was pointing up with a mirror inside it. We went to the road show to get ideas for the science projects Te Ngahere will be doing.

The Scientific Method

Last week Te Ngahere made an infographic about the scientific method and put steps on how to do it. We made it to teach people the scientific method. We will use this in the future for the science fair Te Ngahere will be hosting in the school whare the top six will go and compete in the Science and Technology Fair.

I think I did well by adding appropriate photos to match the words. I think I didn't do that much writing to add detail on what to do.

Mosaic Art

This week Te Ngahere have been making mosaic art using Google drawing’s. We did it to share our leaning on our chromebook’s by using QR codes on the windows for people to scan and see our mosaic art. If I ever become a artist I will do a lot of mosaic art. I did a knife first but that was to inappropriate for school so I did a batman logo instead. I think I did good by adding heaps of little part’s for the logo. I think next time a should improve my drawing by adding more detail to the batman logo.

Te Reo Maori

Today the year 7&8’s went on this website called EP(Education Perfect) first we logged in to the website, then we pressed start so the first thing was showing us what we're going to learn. We did it to learn more about Maori language and be more confident on pronouncing it properly. I think I really tried to focus and not talk to my friends around me. I also think i could of had read the text’s slowly to ensure it makes sense. I found Pai easy to say which means good and i found tired(NgeNge) kinda hard to pronounce

Smart Relationship

In Te Ngahere we have been learning about smart relationships and to not share personal information online. We did this to learn about being safe online and not giving your information to strangers such as address, age, full name, what you do after school and much more. From now on i'm never going to  give my address to a stranger not that I ever have apart from when I’m buying stuff online

Fun P.E

Every monday and thursday Te Ngahere and Te Maunga do P.E. The sorts we do are netball, soccer, skill games and touch. We did it to learn skills and more thing about these games I think I ran really well when we were playing baseball in skill games. And next time I need to work on teamwork and passing the ball.

Have you ever done P.E?

My Best Drawing Ever

On Wednesday we did a google drawing. We did it to show our learning in a creative way and to learn to use the tools on google drawings properly and more confidently. I think on my google drawing I did the New Zealand flag really well and the cross on the flag. To improve my drawing I should add some more fish and some seaweed to make it more realistic. In the future google drawings would come in handy if I’m trying to draw something.

Creative Technology

On tuesday the year 7&8s went to tech. When we first got there Mr.E told us all the rules. After that we got a block of wood to make a replica Waka. First we had to use a ruler to measure exactly 22mm on each end and 7mm on each side, we ruled a line at the 7mm mark and also at the 22mm mark and the cut along the lines we drew with power tools. An interesting fact: The left side of the boat is called port and the right side is called starboard the front is called bow and the back is called stern. It was quite hard to cut exactly on the line without going all wonky. Next time I need to focus on cutting exactly on the line.Have you ever been to a technology class

Brain Twisting Test

On the first day of term 2 Te Ngahere did a following directions test to see how good we follow directions. First Whaea Becks gave us a piece of paper we had to flip it over so we can’t see it when the teacher says, we flip it back over and start. There were 23 questions the first one was read these questions very carefully and all the questions were there but the last question was only answer question 1 and 2 and patiently draw on the back of your piece of paper and wait for the others but no one saw it. What we learnt was to always read carefully and pay attention and that's what the teachers were trying to teach us. When the teachers showed us the bottom question the whole class was so shocked. Next time me and probably most of the class will read carefully and check the bottom question.

What’s That Task?

In Te Ngahere we have been doing team building my group was Boston and Charlize we had a piece of paper and there would be a drawer and a runner . The drawer would stay inside while the runner has to go outside and memorise some pictures from a piece of paper and

then tell the drawer to draw the image you remembered without touching the paper. It was so annoying because you couldn’t use your hands. When your telling the drawer what to draw its so annoying because you just keep repeating yourself and getting louder and louder. When your the drawer you can’t get off the chair. The challenge was  to write the same color the drawing was for example someone written purple in blue thats one of the annoying things to remember.

Tsunami Warning

Tsunami warning

Last Friday there was a tsunami warning. Before the alarm went off our whole school went to the top of the Totara Heights. When we were up there all Te Ngahere was calling our parents. Just by looking out at the ocean you could see all the rips in the water because the tide went out. At the start it was pretty horrific seeing all the boats go out to sea. Believe it or not the car ferry actually went out to the Nine Pin. When the school was up on the hill looking out at the majestic moana you could just see all the rocks at Motu Maire and Haystack.

When we were all at the top of Totara heights everyone was having fun with Gina’s brain quiz while I was just sunbathing on the footpath. After a couple hours some nice chefs gave us some delicious sausages.
